Alm named 1A Player of the Year, Harden also earns all-state spot

Polk County junior Gunnar Alm has been named the state 1A Player of the Year by the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association.

Alm is joined on the all-state team by teammate and fellow junior Noah Harden.

The North Carolina State commit hit .544 this season with eight home runs and 22 RBI. He stole 29 bases, drew 30 walks and scored 40 runs in helping lead the Wolverines to a 12-14 record.

Harden finished with an 8-1 record and a 1.85 earned run average, striking out 48 while walking 24.

Voyager Academy’s Carrick Ryan was named the 1A Pitcher of the Year.
