Polk County’s junior varsity rallied from a 3-1 deficit, pulling away to defeat Owen 7-3 in a Western Highlands Conference baseball matchup in Swannanoa.
The Warhorses held their two-run lead after three innings, but Polk County (4-2, 4-1) responded with a four-run fifth inning to take the lead, then added tw insurance runs in the sixth.
Shane Parris reached base on an error to open the fifth, then stole second and third before Bryson Edwards drew a walk.
Coble Cameron followed with a single to drive in Parris, and Jonathan Edwards tripled to plate Edwards and Cameron and give Polk County the lead.
With two outs, Landon Hoots singled to center to score Edwards and make it a 5-3 Wolverine lead.
The Wolverines scored their two runs in the sixth with two outs as Bryson Edwards walked and Cameron was hit by a pitch, with Jonathan Edwards then driving in Bryson Edwards with a single. Chan Barber followed with a base hit to drive in Cameron with the final run.
Jonathan Edwards finished 2-for-2 with three RBI to lead Polk County, with Cameron going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Barber, Hoots and Brad Marcello each had a hit.
Cameron earned the win, allowing one earned run on eight hits and striking out five with no walks in the win.
Polk County returns home to face Avery on Tuesday in a 4 p.m. game at The Bottoms.
