Polk junior varsity tops Madison, wins third straight

Polk County’s junior varsity baseball squad won its third straight game on Tuesday, topping Madison 6-5 in a Western Highlands Conference game at Polk.

The Wolverines improved to 7-4 overall and have won five of their last six games.

In a back-and-forth battle, Madison held a 5-4 lead entering the bottom of the fourth, but the Wolverines pushed across runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to earn the win.

Chris Phipps finished 2-for-3 and scored two runs and Bryson Ridings was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run for Polk.

Kyler Scruggs scattered six hits with three strikeouts in earning the win.
