Mountain Heritage scored 12 runs in the first three innings Wednesday, then held on to defeat Polk County 14-10 in Western Highlands Conference baseball action in Burnsville.
The Cougars (7-6, 7-2) scored six runs in the first inning, then added three runs in both the second and third innings. Tyler Holcomb finished the game 4-for-4 with three home runs and five RBI to pace Mountain Heritage.
Polk County (5-12, 2-6) trailed 12-6 after three innings, then cut the lead to 12-9 in the top of the sixth. The Cougars added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the win.

The Wolverines had 11 hits in the game, led by Daniel Painter’s 3-for-5 effort. Brett Phipps finished 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBI and Sedric Pickett and Bailey Livesay each added a 2-for-4 effort. Noah Howell also had two hits.
