Wolverines sweep Cougars for key conference win

Polk County earned a key Western Highlands Conference win on Tuesday, going on the road to hand Mountain Heritage a straight-set loss in Burnsville.

The Wolverines took a 25-23, 25-17, 25-23 win, improving their record to 11-4 overall, 7-1 in WHC play. The loss dropped Mountain Heritage to 11-4 overall, 5-3 in WHC play, meaning Polk County need win just one of its final four league games to clinch an automatic 2A state playoff berth.

Reagan Waddell had 15 kills, 14 digs and four aces for Polk, with Addie Lynch recording 10 kills and 19 digs. Grace Lauer added four kills while Ansley Lynch had five blocks. Kendall Hall finished with 17 digs, with Lauren Ketwitz notching 14 assists and eight digs and Georgia Garrett posting 10 assists, eight digs and three aces.
