The rosters are set for Polk County’s 2020 volleyball season.
A mix of veterans and newcomers dot the Wolverines’ varsity roster, released Wednesday along with the junior varsity squad. The rosters were set after the first official day of athletic activity since March 13 as volleyball and cross country teams were allowed to begin practice.
Polk County is slated to open its season, delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, on Nov. 19 at East Rutherford. The Wolverines’ home opener is set for Nov. 24 against Madison.
Polk County’s 2020 roster includes two returning all-Western Highlands Conference selections in Marilyn Castillo and Kristen Hall. Also returning from last season’s varsity squad are Rollins Carter, Belen Akers, Emmie McDowell, Marissa Twitty and Rachael Davis. All seven players are seniors.
That group will be joined by a group moving up from the junior varsity program – sophomores Amberlyn Scruggs and Ella Waldman, senior Stella Tallon and junior Sara Wilson – and four newcomers, including freshmen Ada Kelley and Caroline Taylor, Thomas Jefferson junior transfer Kinsley Huskey and sophomore Adair Edwards, who missed last season due to injury.
