Four Polk County athletes qualified for the 3A Track & Field State Championships, scheduled for Thursday at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro.
Sam Rhein will compete in two events for the Wolverines. Rhein tied for second in the high jump at 6-0 and finished fourth in the long jump at 21-1.5 at the 3A West Regional on Saturday.
Jesse Moore qualified in the triple jump with a fifth-place finish at 41-6 while Jayvin Clark advanced to state in the pole vault, tying for fifth with a clearance of 9-6. The top four finishers in each event earned automatic berths while the top six performances from the East, Central and West Regionals that weren’t top-four efforts earned at-large spots.

Leah Dotson will represent Polk County in the girls pole vault after placing fifth at 8-0 at the regional meet.
