Polk County senior Chloe Young

A trio of Polk County softball players have earned recognition for their play during the 2024 season.

Recent graduate Chloe Young and rising seniors Sarah Vitale and Elizabeth Vitale have been selected to the North Carolina Softball Coaches Association 1A All-District Team for Region 8. 

Young, meanwhile, was also a second-team selection for the All-Western North Carolina team as chosen by the Citizen-Times in Asheville.

A Gaston College signee, Young hit .467 in her final season at Polk County, driving in 10 runs, scoring 17 runs and lashing nine doubles.

Elizabeth Vitale hit .383 with a team-high 19 RBI and two home runs. Sarah Vitale hit .328 with 17 RBI and also pitched all but 3.2 innings this season for Polk, posting a 3.94 earned run average with 99 strikeouts.
