PCHS roundup: JV baseball stays hot with big win; softball falls

Polk County’s junior varsity baseball team won its eighth straight game on Tuesday, routing Madison 18-5 in Marshall.

The Wolverines improved to 8-3 with the victory.  Polk County has yet to lose to a conference team this season.

SOFTBALL FALLS AT MADISON: Madison maintained its unbeaten start to this season, handing Polk County a 10-1 loss in Western Highlands Conference action.

The Patriots (12-0, 6-0) pounded out 17 hits in the win. Madison built a 5-0 lead after three innings, then responded to Polk County’s first run in the top of the fourth with four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Starter Hannah Jennings held the Wolverines (4-4, 3-3) to four hits, striking out eight.

Polk County returns to action on Thursday, traveling to Pisgah for a non-conference game.
