The Panthers improved to 3-4, 1-0 in their conference debut, with the Wolverines dropping to 4-3, 0-3.

Patton responded with a three-run fourth to make it 5-1 before the Wolverines scored another run in the sixth. Miya Jackson singled, Bradley again reached on an error and Young’s sacrifice scored Jackson.

That would be all the scoring for Polk as the Wolverines left six runners on base in the game.

Young finished 2-for-3 to pace the Polk offense, with Jackson, Sarah Vitale, Elizabeth Vitale, Laney Littlefield and Aslyn Scruggs each adding a base hit.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again Friday at Polk.
