
Recent Polk County graduates Alana Jergenson and Emily Prince have been named to the North Carolina Softball Coaches Association 1A All-State squad.
The two were the only 1A players chosen for recognition from District 8, which stretches west from McDowell County. Both players were also All-District choices.
Prince hit .550 this season with two home runs and nine RBI. Jergenson hit .485 with team highs in home runs (four) and RBI (18).
Alleghany’s Kenzi Lyall was named the 1A West Pitcher of the Year while Mountain Island Charter’s Chloe Hatzopoulos was named the 1A West Player of the Year.
