Polk County Middle’s softball home opener didn’t unfurl Monday quite like the Wolverines hoped. That didn’t stop Polk from battling until the end.

Hendersonville Middle eased its way to a 25-0 victory over Polk Middle in Blue Ridge Conference action at Polk County Recreation Complex.

A Polk Middle roster heavy on sixth graders had one hit, that coming in the second inning from designated hitter Elizabeth Vitale. The single followed Kayleigh Wilson’s walk to open the inning, and Wilson reached third during the gfram but was unable to score.

Hendersonville Middle did most of its damage in the second inning, scoring 15 runs to build a 20-0 lead after two.

The Wolverines are back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Canton Middle for a 4:30 p.m. game.
