Four Polk County players earn all-state softball honors

Four Polk County players have been named to the North Carolina Softball Coaches Association 2A all-state team.

Rising senior Hayley Kropp, rising junior Ashley Scruggs and rising sophomores Haley Fowler and Maranda Gosnell were chosen for the team, announced Monday.

Owen placed three players on the squad, the only other Western Highlands Conference team to place at least one player on the all-state team.

Forbush’s Logan Wood was chosen as the 2A West player of the year, with teammate Sydney Miller named the 2A West pitcher of the year. South Granville’s Erin Boone and Miranda Barker were named the 2A East player and pitcher of the year, respectively.
