Polk youth football needs players to complete 9/10U squad

1 min read

Polk County Youth Football is making an urgent appeal for players to keep its 9/10U team alive for the 2026 season.

The team needs just four to six more players to field a competitive roster. The first deadline to add players comes at this Saturday’s league weigh-ins. If the team doesn’t have enough players by then, it will have to miss its first home game the following weekend.

A final opportunity to add players will come at late weigh-ins on August 19. If the team still falls short at that point, the 9/10U squad will be disbanded for the season.

The program is seeking 9- and 10-year-old boys and girls interested in playing. Players do not have to live in Polk County to participate.

The organization would also like to find additional players for the 5/6U team.

Practices are held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Searcy Field in Mill Spring.

Registration is $149 total, which includes a $75 sign-up fee and a $74 jersey. Financial assistance may be available for families for whom cost is a barrier.
