Polk County’s Hannah Jenne was eliminated Friday one step shy of advancing to the state 2A singles tournament, falling in the second round of the 2A West Regional at Gardner-Webb.
Jenne, a sophomore, dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision to Lake Norman Charter’s Zoe Panizza in the second round of the regional. Panizza went on to finish second, falling to teammate Olivia Archer in the championship match.
Jenne defeated East Rutherford’s Carson Marshall 6-0, 6-3 in the opening round.
Brevard’s Aly Henneberry and Franklin’s Makhaila Anderson were the other individual qualifiers from the regional for the state tournament.
