Polk Middle's Molly Justice and the Wolverines posted their eighth shutout of the season on Tuesday

The top team in the Blue Ridge Conference’s West Division found out Tuesday what BRC East opponents have come to know well this season.

Polk County Middle has a pretty solid defense.

The Wolverines recorded their eighth shutout of the season, handing the Bears a 2-0 defeat in a BRC matchup at Utz Field.

Polk Middle improved to 11-1 with the win, with Canton Middle dropping to 6-2.

Reeve Carroll scored both goals for the Wolverines.

“Canton was a tough team that came out super aggressive and eager to fight for a win,” said Polk Middle head coach Jessica Marrow. “We wanted it just as much, and that reflected on how we played.

“Each of the girls played their best game this season. We won the ball out of the air, we played to feet and we made some really great passes. We also were able to play to a level of aggressiveness as well.”

Polk Middle will travel Monday to Flat Rock Middle for a 4:30 p.m. match.
