Paulina Harden and Taylor Newton each scored nine points and Jennifer Guerrero, Makayla Staley and Haley Fowler each added seven as the Wolverines improved to 1-3. Two of the three losses have been by five points.
“Each team member gave great effort in tonight’s game,” Thompson said. “This win will give the girls confidence going forward.
“I’ve told them that we are not together this season by chance. The Lord put us in place and we are going to do great things this season. The girls have worked hard on fundamentals in practice. As a coach, this fact gives me confidence that whoever is on the floor at any given time will get the job done.”
Amy Chupp added two points for Polk County, which travels Tuesday to face Mountain Heritage in a Western Highlands Conference clash.
