North Henderson slows down Polk, ends Wolverines’ run

North Henderson relied on tough defense to slow down Polk County and hand the Wolverines a 47-39 loss Wednesday night at North Henderson.

In improving to 3-2, North Henderson held Polk County to its lowest point total of the season. The Wolverines dropped to 4-1 with their first loss of the season.

North Henderson built a 24-11 halftime lead, then extended that lead to 38-22 at the end of the third period before Polk County rallied late to pull within the final margin.

Autumn Owen had 11 points and nine rebounds to lead Polk County. Kara Overholt and Sarah Phipps each added eight points as North Henderson held leading scorer Hayley Kropp to five points. Overholt had six steals. Hannah Bracket had 18 points and Jonnie Petree had 13 to lead North Henderson.

The Wolverines open Western Highlands Conference play on Friday, hosting Madison.
