Defense carries Polk girls to victory in low-scoring battle at East Henderson

Polk County again relied on its defense Wednesday night, allowing eight first-half points for the second straight game en route to a 29-23 win over East Henderson in non-conference girls basketball action in Flat Rock.

The Wolverines (12-8) built a 16-8 lead at halftime, not quite the 25-8 lead they held Tuesday at Mitchell but enough to propel them to a third straight win. East Henderson (8-12) did limit Polk to a single point in the third period, but the Wolverines outscored the Eagles 12-11 in the final quarter to secure the win.

Hayley Kropp had 10 points and eight rebounds to lead Polk County, which is off until hosting Avery next Wednesday.
