
A pair of Polk County Middle School runners earned the opportunity to compete in the Blue Ridge Conference cross country meet, held Tuesday at Apple Valley.
Jessie Bradley and Leah Dotson each qualified for the meet based on their finish in the BRC East Division meet, held Dec. 8 at Apple Valley.
In the conference meet, Dotson placed 21st with a time of 16:17.54, followed by Bradley in 22nd with a time of 16:20.22.
Waynesville Middle’s Julia Wells won the girls title with a time of 13:55.59, finishing almost 10 seconds ahead of Rugby’s Amron Rice. Rugby won the girls team title and also claimed the boys team title as well.
At the East Division meet, Bradley placed 13th with a time of 16:08, with Dotson claiming 19th in 16:42. Also competing for Polk Middle were Heaven Villareal (22nd, 17:10), Isabella Gates (26th, 17:27), Essie Mitchell (31st, 18:28) and Gabby Savaia (35th, 18:42).
Wolverine boys who competed in the East meet included Aaden Denton (27th, 15:58), Riley Ballentine (28th, 16:35), Efrain Riviera (32nd, 17:19), Tallie Metcalf (34th, 17:50) and Jasper Nespeca (38th, 19:57).
