Polk County Middle School’s Olivia Overholt ran to an easy victory Tuesday in the Blue Ridge Middle School Conference cross country championship at Apple Valley Middle School.

Overholt won the girls race by 10 seconds over Macon Middle’s Dylan Garcia.

In the boys race, Polk County Middle’s Chris Rickman placed 15th.

Both teams battled ailments throughout the season that kept some of the team’s top runners from competing.

“It was a great season despite all the injuries,” said Polk County Middle head coach Cathy Elliott.
