Polk County dropped a 7-2 decision Tuesday to Owen in Western Highlands Conference boys tennis action in Swannanoa.
The Wolverines (4-8, 3-4) were much closer than the final score indicated, though. Tyler Oxtoby dropped an 11-9 decision at No. 1 and Ben Deffner dropped an 11-9 decision at No. 5, each narrowly missing a win after leading 9-8.
Joshua Kornmayer took an 11-9 win at No. 4 singles and Malik Miller earned a 10-5 win at No. 6 for the Wolverines. Payton Stott fell 10-1 at No. 2 singles and Henry Monts suffered a 10-0 loss at No. 3.

In doubles action, Oxtoby/Monts fell 8-4, Stott/Kornmayer fell 8-0 and Miller/Deffner suffered an 8-0 loss.
The Wolverines are scheduled to visit Crest on Wednesday, weather permitting, before concluding their regular season with a trip to Mountain Heritage on Thursday.
