Polk County will host Elkin in the first round of the state 1A boys soccer playoffs.

The Wolverines will meet the Buckin’ Elks on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in G.M. Tennant Stadium. The match will also be shown live on the NFHS Network.

Polk County received the number two seed in the random drawing and will host the 15th-seeded Elks, who finished second in the Mountain Valley 2A/1A Conference.

Elkin owns a 9-2-1 record this season and is ranked ninth in the latest MaxPreps 1A state rankings. Polk County is 14th in those computer-generated ratings.

The winner of Tuesday’s match will face either Swain or Thomas Jefferson in the second round, which is set for Thursday.
