Polk County Middle’s boys soccer team opened its delayed 2020 season this week with a dramatic win and narrow loss.
The Wolverines kicked off the schedule on Tuesday, hosting Apple Valley. The teams battled to a scoreless tie at halftime before Polk tallied in the second half with Blake Anderson taking a cross from Manny Albarran and finding the back of the net.
An Apple Valley goal resulted in the game reaching the end of regulation in a 1-1 tie. Late in overtime, the Wolverine defense pushed the ball out of its end and found Albarran in the midfield area. He was able to send a pass upfield to Eno Baker, who outran a defender and chipped a shot past the Apple Valley goalkeeper just before the end of overtime to win the match.
