Polk County’s boys soccer season has come to an end.
The North Carolina High School Athletic Association released official playoff brackets on Monday afternoon, and the Wolverines did not earn a wild card berth. The NCHSAA adopted a new qualifying format this season, with the top three teams in each conference (two teams in split conferences such as the Western Highlands Conference in which Polk County plays) earning an automatic berth. All remaining teams are then seeded based on winning percentage.
East Burke, the 32nd seed in the 2A West bracket, finished 7-11-1, a winning percentage of .395. At 6-16, Polk County finished with a percentage of .273.
