Owen took advantage of a Polk County own goal in the final minutes Monday to hand the Wolverines a 1-0 setback in a Western Highlands Conference showdown in Swannanoa.

The Wolverines (5-3-2, 4-1) suffered their first conference loss of the season. Owen (6-4-0, 6-0) assumed sole possession of first place with the win.

The Polk County junior varsity earned a 3-0 win.

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday, hosting Hendersonville in what will be another key conference game for the varsity. That game will be at Polk County Middle School, with the varsity slated to start around 7:30 p.m. after the junior varsity match at 5:45 p.m.
