The road wasn’t very kind to Polk County on Wednesday as the Wolverines suffered a 2-1 loss to Mountain Heritage in a Western Highlands Conference soccer match in Burnsville.

The loss dropped Polk County to 6-5-2 overall, 5-3 in WHC play. Mountain Heritage, which battled the Wolverines hard in a 3-2 loss in the team’s earlier meeting in Columbus, improved to 5-8, 3-5.

Wil Rimer scored the lone goal for the Wolverines, assisted by Bradley Osborn.

Tyler Campbell had five saves for Polk County, which is back on the road on Monday, journeying to Bakersville for a 6 p.m. meeting with Mitchell.
