Macon Middle nips Polk Middle in BRC tourney semifinal

Macon Middle scored just before the halftime whistle Wednesday and made that lead stand, handing Polk County Middle a 1-0 loss in the semifinals of the Blue Ridge Conference boys soccer tournament in Franklin.

The Wolverines end their season with an 8-6 record. Macon (8-2-1) advances to next week’s championship match against Hendersonville Middle (11-2-1).

Polk Middle faced a number of challenges in addition to Macon, arriving just 20 minutes before kickoff due to traffic and missing eighth grader Tanner Osborn. The Wolverines still had several good scoring chances but could never find the back of the net.

“The guys gave full effort, as usual,” said Polk Middle head coach Lennox Charles.
