Polk JVs top Montgomery Central in tourney opener

Polk County’s junior varsity moved into the championship game of the Timberwolf Holiday Classic with a 39-32 win Friday over Montgomery Central.

The Wolverines (3-6) will face Christ The King’s junior varsity in Saturday’s 12:30 p.m. championship game at West Montgomery High School.

Polk County took a 21-16 halftime lead, then extended the advantage to 33-23 entering the final quarter and preserved that margin for the win.

Kris Littlejohn scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead Polk County, with Kanye Staley scoring eight points with seven rebounds. Mackus Simpson finished with six points and six rebounds, with William Simpson scoring five points with nine rebounds.

Vincent Twitty had five points, with Mark Teague and Laden Bradley scoring one.
