Khalil Austin had 16 points Tuesday to help power Polk County's junior varsity past Chase

Polk County’s junior varsity notched its first conference win Tuesday, racing to a 53-19 victory over visiting Chase.

The Wolverines (2-6) opened a 13-10 halftime lead, then dominated the second half, holding the Trojans (0-8) to just nine points in the final two quarters.

Scoreless in the first half, Khristian Littlejohn had 15 second-half points to fuel the Wolverines’ surge, with Khalil Austin scoring eight of his team-high 16 points in the third quarter.

David Duffy added eight points, with Chase Stansbury scoring six. Cooper Rhodes and Curtis Simmons each had three points, with Keasten Wilkins finishing with two.

Polk County is set to travel Friday to East Rutherford for another Mountain Foothills 7 Conference matchup.
