Polk County’s junior varsity boys dropped a 43-42 decision in their season opener Tuesday in the most unusual of manners.
After rallying in the fourth quarter against Highland Tech to force a tie in regulation, the Wolverines also finished the first overtime still deadlocked. That led to a second overtime played in sudden-death fashion, with the first team to score declared the winner.
The Rams got an early free throw in the period to claim the victory.
