A big first quarter Monday helped propel Landrum’s junior varsity boys to a 57-30 victory over Polk County in Landrum.
The Cardinals (8-0) raced to a 21-7 lead at the end of the opening period. The Wolverines (0-5) kept the deficit steady for the next two quarters, entering the fourth period down 39-26.
Landrum, though, exploded for an 18-4 run in the final minutes to account for the final margin.
Khristian Littlejohn had 20 points to lead Polk County, with Jonathan Collier scoring six. David Duffy and Chase Stansbury each added two points.
Polk County is set to wrap up its pre-Christmas schedule on Wednesday, traveling to Burns.
