Burns built an early double-digit lead Friday and went on to top Polk County 61-31 in boys junior varsity basketball action at Polk.

The Wolverines dropped to 1-6 with the loss. The Bulldogs improved to 7-4.

Burns raced to a 17-5 lead at the end of the first period, then extended the advantage to 28-12 at the half en route to the win.

Khalil Austin led Polk County with 10 points, with Khristian Littlejohn and Chase Stansbury each scoring eight. Cooper Rhodes added five points.

Polk County will host Chase on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference matchup.
