Brevard handed Polk County’s junior varsity a 59-35 setback Wednesday in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference game at Polk.
The game started competitively, with Brevard (5-6) leading just 16-14 at the end of the first quarter. The Blue Devils extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Polk County 14-5, and continued to pull away in the third quarter with a 17-4 run.
Polk County (0-12) managed to match Brevard’s 12 points in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap.

Keyan Simpson led the Wolverines with eight points. Tae Gary added seven points, while Kamron Cunningham scored six. Harris Windsor chipped in with five points, Nathaniel Harms added four, Curtis Simmons scored three and Dre Thompson rounded out the scoring with two points.
Brevard’s Akai Agyapon led all scorers with 14 points.
Polk County will look to regroup on Friday as the Wolverines travel to face Patton in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference game.
