Polk County finished a narrow second Monday in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference boys golf match at Connestee Falls.
The Wolverines posted a total of 339, just three strokes behind Chase in the team standings. Hendersonville took third at 356.
Avery Harden led Polk County with an 82, followed by Evan Jones with an 84. Casey Beiler added an 85, with Reilly Yoder rounding out the team scoring with an 88.
Myles Menetre carded a 93 for the Wolverines.
Chase’s Garrett Pinkerton took medalist honors with a 78.
The conference is awarding its team title this season based on a cumulative score at league matches. Polk County is currently second in that race, 48 strokes behind Chase.
Polk County is scheduled to compete against MF7 schools again on Thursday at Meadowbrook Golf Club, that match teeing off at 1 p.m.
