
Polk golfers top Chesnee, Landrum at Links O’Tryon
Polk County’s boys golf team crossed state lines Thursday and took top honors in a tri-match held at Links O’Tryon.
The Wolverines posted a team score of 165 to top Chesnee by 16 strokes and Landrum by 34 strokes in the nine-hole match.
Chesnee’s Peyton Lawter fired a 40 to earn medalist honors, but the Wolverines showed remarkable consistency with Avery Harden, Reilly Yoder and Evan Jones each firing 41s and Casey Beiler posting a 42.
Myles Menetre added a 60 for Polk County.
The Wolverines are scheduled to join Mountain Foothills 7 Conference schools on Monday for a league match at Hendersonville Country Club, that 18-hole contest beginning at 1 p.m.
