Polk County's Casey Beiler, left, carded an 85 in Monday's match

Polk golfers take third in conference clash at Mimosa Hills

Polk County’s golf team may have a new competitor in its chase of Chase.

Runners-up to the Trojans in every Mountain Foothills 7 Conference match thus far this season, the Wolverines placed third in Monday’s match at Mimosa Hills Golf Club in Morganton, with Hendersonville taking second in the meeting of MF7 teams.

Chase again took top honors, its score of 333 leading Hendersonville by 22 strokes. The Bearcats recorded a team score of 355, three shots ahead of Polk County’s 358. East Rutherford took fourth with a 362.

Polk County did compete without one of its top players, Evan Jones, and likely would have moved ahead of Hendersonville with Jones in action.

Reilly Yoder’s 81 led Polk County, with Avery Harden and Casey Beiler each firing 85s. Myles Menetre had a 107 to round out Polk’s team scoring.

The Wolverines are scheduled to return to the course on Wednesday, facing Hendersonville and Owen in a tri-match at Hendersonville Country Club.
