Polk County finished fifth with a team score of 343 at Monday’s Western Highlands Conference boys golf match at Mountain Glen Golf Club in Newland.
Mitchell won the match with 324, followed by Avery at 325 and Hendersonville at 327. Madison finished fourth with 340, followed by Polk County, Mountain Heritage at 361 and Owen at 378.
The match was the final regular-season competition for Polk County. The 3A West Regional is set for May 5 at Deer Brook Golf Club in Shelby.

Tourin Jackson led Polk County with a round of 79. Brody Wilkins shot 87, Piercen Edwards carded 88, Tallis Metcalf finished with 89, and Gage Harden shot 95.
Hank Johnson of Avery shot 67 to claim medalist honors on the par-72 course. Bryce Miller of Mitchell finished second with 73, and Carson Anglin of Mountain Heritage placed third with 74.
