Polk again tops conference rivals at Cleghorn

Polk County’s boys golf team continued Monday to hold the upper hand over its Mountain Foothills 7 Conference rivals.

The Wolverines posted a team score of 310 to defeat a field full of MF7 schools at Cleghorn Golf and Sports Club in Rutherfordton.

Chase’s Garrett Pinkerton fired a 71 and Brock Reid followed with a 72, but Wolverines claimed the next three spots on the leaderboard, with Reilly Yoder carding a 74, Casey Beiler firing a 75 and Avery Harden posting a 77. Evan Jones added an 84 and Myles Menetre had a 105 for Polk.

Chase had a team score of 328 while Hendersonville placed third with a 341, led by Ian Wright’s 79. Patton’s Brady Chamberlain also had a 79.

Polk County will stop at Tryon Country Club on Tuesday afternoon to face East Henderson in a nine-hole dual match set to begin at 4 p.m.
