
Jones paces field as Polk matches Chase at Cleghorn
Evan Jones claimed medalist honors and Polk County matched Chase in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference boys golf match Monday at Cleghorn Golf and Sports Club in Rutherfordton.
Jones posted a score of 81 to take top honors for the 18-hole round, topping Patton’s Randy Chamberlain, Hendersonville’s Steven Mills and Chase’s Brock Reid and Garrett Pinkerton by one shot.
Avery Harden and Reilly Yoder each posted an 87 and Casey Beiler added an 89 as Polk finished with a team score of 344, tying Chase. Hendersonville placed third with a 349.
Myles Menetre also competed and carded a 112 for Polk.
The Wolverines are slated to be back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Crooked Creek for a dual match against East Henderson.
