The state tourney will conclude Tuesday with the second round of the event.

Polk County freshman Tourin Jackson posted an 86 to share 39th place while junior Myles Menetre finished with a 93 to be in a tie for 64th place in the field of 95 golfers.

Mitchell took an eight-shot lead over Mount Airy in the team competition, with Mountain Island Charter in third 14 strokes back and Cherryville in fourth 20 shots behind.

Harden birdied the par-5 opening hole, dropped to 5-over par after six holes, then birdied the par-5 eight to finish the opening nine in 39. Harden still remained at 4-over until a double bogey on the 18th hole.
