Emory takes medalist honors at WHC match in Newland

Carson Emory captured medalist honors Wednesday during a four-team Western Highlands Conference golf match at Mountain Glen Golf Club in Newland.

Emory and teammate Hunter Lynch took part in the event as individuals, with Polk County on spring break this week. Emory posted an 82 to win the match by a stroke over Avery’s Carter Smith and Mitchell’s Ty Sparks.

Lynch had an 87 on the course that will host the first round of the WHC tournament.

Avery won the match with a team score of 342, followed by Mitchell at 348 and Mountain Heritage at 414.
