Undefeated Bearcats top Wolverines, 12-2, in five innings

Samuel Linn checked Polk County on three hits and added a two-run homer to lead undefeated Hendersonville to a 12-2 five-inning win Thursday over the Wolverines.

Linn, the reigning Western Highlands Conference player of the year, struck out six as Hendersonville improved to 13-0, 6-0 in league play. Polk County dropped to 5-8, 3-3.

The Wolverines pushed across runs in the first two innings and remained tied at 2-2 with the Bearcats before Hendersonville exploded for four runs in the third off Polk starter Morgan Groves. The Bearcats added a run in the fourth and then scored five times in the fifth to end the game.

Wes Brady had an RBI double to lead the Wolverines, who return home Monday to host the WNC Trailblazers.

Polk County picked up the win in the junior varsity game.
