Polk County’s junior varsity baseball squad endured another tough afternoon Thursday at The Bottoms as Mountain Heritage delivered a 16-0 victory in non-conference action.
The Cougars wasted no time establishing control, exploding for eight runs in the opening inning before adding another run in the second frame. Mountain Heritage continued to build their advantage with a three-run third inning before closing out the contest with four runs in the fourth.
Polk County’s offense totalled four hits against Mountain Heritage pitching. Simms Harris, Jonathan Painter, Curtis Simmons and Callum Eadus each recorded a base hit.

Polk County (0-7) will look to regroup quickly as they return to action Friday, traveling to face conference rival Hendersonville.
