Polk County’s wrestling team won all three of its pool matches Saturday before falling in the semifinal and third-place match at the Enka Duals in Candler.
The Wolverines defeated Swain County 66-18, North Buncombe 66-16 and Tuscola 48-27 in pool play to advance to the Gold Pool semifinals, where they fell to host Enka 38-29. Polk County lost to R-S Central 43-29 in the third-place match to finish fourth among 15 schools in the tournament.
St. Stephens defeated Enka 42-24 in the championship match to win the event.

Zalen McCraw (165) went 5-0 on the weekend with four pins and one forfeit win. Brody Wolfe (150) finished 3-0 with a pin, technical fall and decision.
Tanner McKinney (285), Amon Villarreal (126), Jaxtyn Virgil (144/150) and Styler Blackwell (190) each recorded four wins.
The Wolverines are now 24-3 in dual matches. Polk County will open Western Highlands Conference action on Saturday, traveling to Madison for a tri-match with the Patriots and Avery.
