Polk County Middle won eight of the first nine matches Thursday en route to a 64-36 victory over Hendersonville Middle in a Blue Ridge Conference wrestling match in Hendersonville.
The Wolverines (4-1) raced to a 54-6 lead, with five of the eight wins coming on first-period pins.
Hendersonville Middle rallied with three wins in the middleweights before Zalen McCraw’s major decision at 170 pounds and Tanner McKinney’s first-period fall at 182 pounds stopped that surge and assured the Wolverines of the win.
Polk Middle returns home Monday for a key BRC East Division matchup with Flat Rock. That match begins at 4:30 p.m.
