Polk County’s wrestling team won three of four matches Saturday at the John Clark Memorial Duals at Madison High School, improving to 27-4 in dual matches this season.
The Wolverines defeated Mitchell 72-0, Avery County 56-22 and Franklin 65-11 while suffering a 50-15 setback against West-Oak, one of South Carolina’s top programs. The victories over Mitchell and Avery County marked Polk County’s first Western Highlands Conference matches of the season.
Styler Blackwell (190) finished 4-0 with two pins, one technical fall and one injury default victory. Brody Wolfe (150) posted a 4-0 record with two pins, one decision and one forfeit win.

The Wolverines got three wins on the day from Silas Amorelli, Amon Villarreal, Liam Jackson, Connor Ahlert, Jaxtyn Virgil, Zach McCraw, Carson Bell and Zalen McCraw, whose three wins moved him to 164 victories for his career, matching the school record held by Austin Ollis.
The tournament also marked the return to action of Polk wrestler Chester Wilson, who returned from an injury suffered during football season.
Polk County travels to Hendersonville on Tuesday for a quad match featuring Western Highlands Conference teams.
