Wolverine wrestlers go 2-3 in busy day of wrestling in Brevard

Polk County wrapped up the 2014 portion of its wrestling schedule with a busy slate of matches Saturday at the Blue Devil Duals in Brevard.

Still nursing injuries, the Wolverines were missing a handful of starters but still recorded a pair of wins, defeating Mountain Heritage 60-24 in a forfeit-filled match and topping Thomas Jefferson 60-18.

Polk County dropped a tough 42-36 decision to Brevard and fell 51-26 to Chase and 65-18 to Ledford.

Chase Emory at 138 pounds and Anthony Marino at 152 pounds finished the day with perfect 5-0 records.

The tournament also marked the first appearance this season for senior heavyweight DJ Twitty.

Polk County is slated to return to action Jan. 3, with wrestlers competing in the Osley B. Saunooke Memorial Tournament in Cherokee.
