Polk County's Jadyn Virgil won his first-round match Thursday in state tournament competition

Polk County’s Jadyn Virgil scored a win Thursday in his opening-round match in the NCHSAA 87th Annual Individual Wrestling State Tournament in Greensboro.

Virgil pinned Bandys’ Camden Mongene to advance to Friday’s 2A quarterfinals in the Greensboro Coliseum. Virgil will face Southwest Onslow’s Jason Rodriguez Jr. in his quarterfinal 182-pound match.

Competition will begin Friday at 8:30 a.m. Matches will be streamed live on the NFHS Network.
