Trio of Wolverines go undefeated as Polk wins one at Wade Hampton wrestling tourney

A six-match winning streak ended Saturday for Polk County’s wrestling squad, but the shorthanded Wolverines still turned in a solid showing at the 4th annual Wade Hampton Duals in Greenville.

Despite having to forfeit at least six classes in every match, Polk County won one of its four matches at the event, defeating Travelers Rest 33-18. The Wolverines lost to Berea, St. Joseph’s and Wade Hampton in the remainer of its matches.

Freshman Chase Emory continued his strong showing thus far this season, winning all four of his matches. Jerry Cox also went undefeated, winning three matches by pin and one by forfeit, while another freshman, Marquise Lipscomb, earned a decision and three forfeits to also finish the day 4-0.

Polk County will return to action Saturday, Dec. 28 in the Rebel Invitational at Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C.
